  1. Be Creative at Your Library

Be creative at your library! Inspiration is on the shelf! Jump right in now, don't be shy baby! Grab a book and express yourself!

I found a book about shapes and shading. Step by step it shows what to do. I've got my pencil. I've got paper. I'm gonna sketch a face for you. Hooray! Hoorah! I'm learning how to… draw!

Chorus

I found a book about fancy footwork. Step by step it shows what to do. I've got my tap shoes. I've got music. I'm gonna bust a move for you. This is my - big chance! I'm learning how to... dance!

I never knew I had such Talent within me. I love a challenge and I Love my library.

Chorus

I found a book about props and blocking. Step by step it shows what to do. I've got my costume. I know my lines. I'm gonna stage a scene for you. It's true! It's a fact! I'm learning how to… act!

Chorus

Be creative at your library (repeat and fade)

I read the book about Prancing Dancing Lily! She's a dancing cow, and she looks so silly! I read the book, me! I took it off the shelf! I read the book, me! I read it by myself! I read the book, me! Reading makes me wanna dance out loud! Like Prancing Dancing Lily!

I read the book Angelina Ballerina! She's a dancing mouse; she's the best I've ever seen-a! I read the book, me! I took it off the shelf! I read the book, me! I read it by myself! I read the book, me! Reading makes me wanna dance out loud! Like Angelina Ballerina!

Go, Angelina!

I read the book about Dumpy La Rue! He's a dancing pig; he'll make you wanna dance, too! I read the book, me! I took it off the shelf, I read the book, me! I read it by myself I read the book, me! Reading makes me wanna dance out loud! Like Dumpy La Rue!

(musical break)

I read the book called Dinosaurumpus! With all kinds of dinos that thump us and bump us! I read the book, me! I took it off the shelf! I read the book, me! I read it by myself! I read the book, me! Reading makes me wanna dance out loud! Like the dinosaurs!

Roar! Dance out loud!

  1. My Video Camera

Some kids keep a journal or a drawing pad. I collect my thoughts in shots and clips. If the day is pokey and my friends feel bad, I point and shoot to change their gloomy scripts.

My video camera shows the world the way it ought to be! Laughing, loving faces looking back at me! I cut out any shady parts, Focus on the sunny hearts, Make a happy movie for a YouTube world!

Everywhere I go I use my camera eye to capture all the cool things that I see. Wacky witty humans are in great supply. I film the funny things they do for me.

Chorus

I frame a bike, a dog, a man on a jog, a kid with a comic book walking in a fog. Now I'm zooming in on something new, A squirrel, a jump-roping girl, her sister with a yo-yo going round the world. Now I'm panning all around the view, Do do, do do do do, a do do do do da do do da do! I think what I’ve been looking for is you! Yeah, you! Smile!

Chorus

The way it ought to be, Laughing, loving faces looking back at me! I cut out any shady parts, Focus on the sunny hearts, Make a happy movie for a YouTube world!

  1. Stage Fright

I'm watching from the wing. I'm thinking through my line. Now I hear my cue. This is my time. I walk out on the stage. I can feel my heart pound. I take a deep breath but I make no sound.

I've got stage fright! I'm frozen up tight Like a deer in a headlight. I am not alright! I've got....stage fright!

I feel dizzy in the head. I feel weak in the knee. I see many pairs of eyes All looking at me. Why are they looking at me? I'm pretty certain I'm supposed to speak. I open my mouth and make a tiny squeak.

Chorus

My nose itches. I can't scratch my nose. I can't move my arms! Why can't I move my arms? It's this stupid costume! I mean this lovely costume my mom helped me make! That's it - I'm a tree! I know what I'm supposed to say! Breathe!

I am a tree. My leaves capture the sun's energy. I turn carbon dioxide into oxygen for people to breathe.

I had stage fright. I was frozen up tight Like a deer in a headlight. But now it's alright. I had stage fright. I had stage fright. I had stage fright. I had stage fright. I had... stage fright.

My mom told me I only hesitated for a couple of seconds but to me it felt like about an hour and a half!

  1. Rock & Roll, Read All About It

Les Paul and Leo Fender, musicians and inventors paved the way toward a brand new thing. Bill Hailey kicked it off with his "Rock Around the Clock." Elvis Presley shook it up as the King. Buddy Holly and his Crickets, Chuck Berry, Little Richard helped 1950s music take wing.

Rock and Roll! Read all about it! Rock and Roll! Legends that surround it! Rock and Roll! Listen to the story behind the beat!

In 1962 we got The Beatles' Love Me Do. It was the shout heard round the nation. The Kinks, the Rolling Stones, and the Zombies added tones that rocked us through the British Invasion. Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin helped flower power blossom at Woodstock - a rock celebration!

Chorus

Led Zeppelin and the Who rocked the 70s anew, while disco tried to steal the scene. Motown kept its soul, while Journey let it roll. The voltage grew with Kiss and Queen. New Wave crashed the party with Devo, Clash, and Blondie. We had a bit of everything!

Chorus

There was a whole new world to see when they turned on MTV. Video killed the radio star. Bon Jovi had big hair, and the ladies rocked with flair like Joan Jet and Pat Benatar. Aerosmith and Ozzy joined the 1980's party, while Van Halen re-invented guitar.

In the 90's grunge was the sonic truth. In 2K Pop Rock rules the youth. There are future chapters still to sing. Who's gonna be the next be the next big thing? Could it be you?

Chorus

Rock and roll! (repeat and fade)

  1. Don’t Look, I'm Making a Book

Her dad got up one Saturday and went to check on Evalyn. He found her in the middle of a scrap heap on her bed. And when she saw him at the door, she dove to cover something up. He asked her what she had to hide. She turned around and said,

“Don't look! Don't look! I'm making a book. My illustrations are colorful creations of paper and glue. My story is oh so clever. This is gonna be the best book ever! I bet you can't wait ‘til I'm ready to read it to you!”

By afternoon her floor was piled with pencil stubs and paper balls. She cut and wrote and wadded up. She worked all through the night. And every time her parents came with trays of food or beverage. They heard a repetition of the rhyme she would recite.

Chorus

On Monday morning six o’clock her mother came to wake her up. The door was blocked from opening by an eight foot paper wall. She ran to dial 911. The firemen chopped the door away. All day they dug for Evalyn but never heard her call.

Evalyn’s parents were sobbing for fear she might never be found. The firemen dug into the night without taking a rest. Then one joyful shovel broke through to the cavity under her desk. A pale face peeked out and voiced this request.

Chorus

  1. The Ants in Your Pants Dance Song Song

If you're taking the chance to invent a new dance And you open up your rhyming dictionary. You'll find a phrase or maybe two that are very tried and true To rhyme the word dance with the eloquence of Chuck Berry. I'm not saying it's right or wrong But you’re probably gonna write another ants in your pants dance song.

Everybody's writing an ants in your pants dance song! If you wanna lose the bug, man you gotta cut the rug! Everybody's writing an ants in your pants dance song! If you want the buggies gone, you gotta get your groove on! All across the nation, children are dancing along! Everybody dance like there’s ants in your pants!

In the 1932s, there were Ants in My Pants blues. In 1973 James Brown went to town and made it funky. But those early anty ditties were never meant for little kiddies. Then in 1984 Joe Scruggs recorded one that was funny. And I'm not saying it's right or wrong But now everybody's got their own ants in your pants dance song.

Everybody's writing an ants in your pants dance song! If you want the bugs to go, let me see you shake your toe! Everybody's writing an ants in your pants dance song! If you wanna make ‘em flee, let me see you shake your knee! All across the nation, children are dancing along! Everybody dance like there’s ants in your pants!

Gary Rosen made it new, the Chenille Sisters, too. Also Daddy A Go Go, Mr. Billy, and Johnette Downing. Gunnar Madsen wrote his own. So did Mr. Saxophone. If songs were water those ants would already be drowning. And I'm not saying it's right or wrong But there must be half a million different ants in your pants dance songs!

Everybody's writing an ants in your pants dance song! If you want the bugs to stop, baby let me see you bop! Everybody's writing an ants in your pants dance song! You wanna make ‘em disappear, then you gotta shake your ear! All across the nation, children are dancing along! Everybody dance like there’s ants in your pants!

Everybody's writing an ants in your pants dance song! Everybody's writing an ants in your pants dance song! All across the nation, children are dancing along! Everybody dance like there’s ants in your pants!

  1. Belly Like a Bongo

I’m gonna play my belly like a bongo. I’m gonna play my belly like a bongo. I’ll play my belly like a bongo while I sing this silly songo, And we’ll make music all day long!

I’m gonna play my nose like a kazoo. I’m gonna play my nose like a kazoo. I’ll play my nose like a kazoo and I hope I don’t Achoo! I’ll play my belly like a bongo while I sing this silly songo, And we’ll make music all day long!

I’m gonna play my hands like two maracas. I’m gonna play my hands like two maracas. I’ll play my hands like two maracas while I dance the Cucaracha. I’ll play my nose like a kazoo and I hope I don’t Achoo! I’ll play my belly like a bongo while I sing this silly songo, And we’ll make music all day long!

I’m gonna play my arm like a trombone. I’m gonna play my arm like a trombone. I’ll play my arm like a trombone ‘til it makes my mama groan. I’ll play my hands like two maracas while I dance the Cucaracha. I’ll play my nose like a kazoo and I hope I don’t Achoo! I’ll play my belly like a bongo while I sing this silly songo, And we’ll make music all day long!

I’m gonna play my ribs like a kalimba. I’m gonna play my ribs like a kalimba. I’ll play my ribs like a kalimba ‘til I’m laughing limb to limba.

I’m gonna play my whole body like a band. Yes, I am. I’m gonna play my whole body like a band. Here I go. I’ll play my body like a band while the world gives me a big big hand. (clapping) Thank you I’ll play my ribs like a kalimba ‘til I’m laughing limb to limba.

  1. Refrigerator Art

I'm drawing a picture of my mom dressed in a super hero cape. She's making my bed with one big toe while fighting off an evil robot ape.

That's refrigerator art! It stands apart! Other drawings I've done may be fancy or fun May be colorful or interesting or smart, But when it tugs at my mama's heart That's refrigerator art!

There's a family word we like to use. We save it only for the best of the best. Whenever I get a great big hug that’s how I know my drawing passed the test.

Chorus

And when our fridge runs out of spaces we’ll find other special places. So even if my new masterpiece is hanging on the mantlepiece or tacked up at work or piled in a nook or stored in a box or bound in a book; Even if it's in a frame on the wall it doesn't change what we like to call it!

Chorus

It stands apart. Other drawings I've done may be fancy or fun May be colorful or interesting or smart, But when it tugs at my mama's heart That's refrigerator art!

  1. Get Creative!

If you want to write poems, read poetry. If you want to play music, find your key. If you want to be an actor, learn a part. If you want to be an painter, study art.

Get creative! Watch your brain waves bloom and grow! Get creative! The library is the place to go!

Find a recipe if you love to cook. If discovery grabs you, get a science book. Read a tech magazine if you'd rather invent. Whatever your spark is, here's a hint...

Chorus

No one can stop you from unlocking your imagination. Your library card is the magical key to endless inspiration.

Broadway, Memphis, Hollywood! Pavarotti to Johnny B. Goode! Pottery, sculpture, ballet, rhyme; Take it all in, it won't cost a dime!

Chorus

  1. Somebody Dreamed a Dream

Disneyland, Superman, the one horse open sleigh, Ferris wheels, parachutes, the U.S.A.; All of these, all of these came into being when somebody, somebody dreamed a dream.

Webkinz World, GPS, hybrid electric cars, cellular phones, MP3s, rovers exploring Mars; All of these, all of these came into being when somebody, somebody dreamed a dream.

Dream, dream, dream a dream. Dream, dream, dream a dream.

Flying cars, urban farms, anti-gravity boots, robo-cooks, day glow dogs, invisibility suits; Each of these could come true if someone dreams them too; Somebody, somebody just like you.

Dream, dream, dream a dream. Dream, dream, dream a dream. Dream, dream, dream a dream. Dream, dream, dream a dream.

Lyrics

Come on Mamma Come on Daddy Immunize for the safety of your baby Give him what he needs to keep affliction away!

Hepatitis Mumps and measles Polio, pertussis and rubella Children need not suffer these diseases today!

It's a gift! Vaccination! It's a blessing! Vaccination! Every childhood vaccination means protection from disease It’s safe! Vaccination! It’s effective! Vaccination! Every childhood vaccination puts a parent's mind at ease!

The vaccine in me Prepares my body The antigen is showing my natural defenses A microscopic mug shot of a thug!

It tells my B cells Remember this critter So they’ll start making the needed antibody To help my system identify and kill that bug!

It's a gift! Vaccination! It's a blessing! Vaccination! Every childhood vaccination means protection from disease It’s safe! Vaccination! It’s effective! Vaccination! Every childhood vaccination puts a parent's mind at ease!

I’m glad I’m a child Of the 21st century I can be smart about on what goes on inside of me Thanks to science We know all about infections I can get protection with a handful of injections!

Hepatitis Mumps and measles Polio, pertussis and rubella Children need not suffer these diseases today!

Come on Mamma Come on Daddy Immunize for the safety of your baby Give her what she needs to keep affliction away!

It's a gift! Vaccination! It's a blessing! Vaccination! Every childhood vaccination means protection from disease It’s safe! Vaccination! It’s effective! Vaccination! Every childhood vaccination puts a parent's mind at ease!

Pet Rock

Monty Harper

In cart Not available Out of stock

What do your pets long to do in the middle of the night when the moon shines blue? Crank out some old-school rock n roll, of course!

This recording owes its awesomeness to an unlikely collection of talented musicians who never set foot in the same room together.

The story begins with a surprise visit from fellow children's artist, Mr. Billy, a rock guitar virtuoso. When he came to Oklahoma this past August and offered to spend some time recording, I felt like a kid in a candy shop, but with only one quarter, because we only had time for one song!

I didn't have to think hard about which song to tackle. I'd had this song in mind for him for years. "Pet Rock" was inspired by my neighbor's dogs keeping me up at night - I imagined they thought they were performing rock n roll music. The song has a raucous kind of an Elvis-y vibe and I knew Mr. Billy was the perfect person to help me do it up right.

Next I brought Mr. Billy's tracks along on a client session at Bell Labs in Norman, hoping we'd find a bit of extra time. Sure enough Trent Bell, the engineer there, was able to squeeze in a session with drummer Nathan Harwell. They synced right up with Mr. Billy’s guitars to give the song a rock solid beat.

I told Billy about the drum session and somehow finagled him into adding a bass track for me from his home studio in Appleton, Wisconsin. Billy used his U-bass - an electric bass ukulele, if you can wrap your brain around that - which sounds a bit like an upright. He said it was the best bass performance he’d ever recorded. No doubt! It’s playful and confident, perfect for the tune!

Oklahoma visual artist Julie Plant provided all the whimsical figures you see in the video. Her dog playing the saxophone made me realize that I really needed a sax part to round out the arrangement. So I turned last minute to my friend Chris Wiser, AKA funky keyboardist “Boom” of the Sugar Free Allstars. I happen to know Chris is also a teacher and player of many reed instruments. His sax parts put the final sizzling touch to the mix.

Speaking of which, for mixing and mastering I called upon children’s music producer James Coffey of Blue Vision Music. It’s great to get a fresh pair of ears in for the final phase of a project, especially one with Jim’s prodigious experience and know-how. Jim's final mix rocks! I think you’re gonna dig it!

Many thanks to my Patreon patrons at FlyingSpaghettiMusic.com - your support makes new recordings possible!

Five Oklahoma History songs and five mystery songs, featuring guest kids' rock gurus ScribbleMonster and Mr. Billy. Excellent songwriting shines through on every track.

This CD includes five mystery songs, recorded for the 2007 Collaborative Summer Library Program, and five Oklahoma songs, written for our state centennial in November 2007.

Track 1. If you've ever wondered what it would sound like for me to front the ScribbleMonster band - and really who hasn't? - the opening track will answer that question for you. The arrangement and instruments for "Get a Clue" were done by ScribbleMonster. Very cool!

Track 2. Similarly, the arrangement and instruments for "Can You Guess?" were done by Mr. Billy. You can hear his kids' voices and my daughter's voice on this one as well. Both these opening tracks truly ROCK!!

Track 3. "Hanging Out With Heroes at the Library, Detectives Version" is an old song which I gave a facelift with new drum tracks and some new verses.

Track 4. "Junior Detectives Club" is an old song I dusted off from the last time Oklahoma had a mystery theme. The recording is simple but charming - picture a meeting of the Junior Detectives Club, opening with a song. The piano and voices were done by Stillwater's own Rana McCoy and her Center Stage Singers.

Track 5. "There's Something Going On at the Library" is another old track with a face lift. I never was happy with the vocal from the original version. Now I am. The instruments are shinier, too.

Track 6. "Boom Town" is an energetic (in more ways than one) kick-off for the Oklahoma half of the CD. This song captures the excitement of the oil boom in 1920s Oklahoma.

Track 7. "Oklahoma Land Rush, 1889" is a fun song to do live with audience participation. This is a simple vocal/guitar rendition.

Track 8. "Oklahoma Heroes at the Library" - Yep, two versions of the same song on one CD. This is a "live" version with verses about real life Oklahoma heroes.

Track 9. I wrote and recorded "Oklahoma Annie" with my six year old daughter, Evalyn. This was a true collaboration between the two of us, and it's one of my favorites on the CD. It tells the story of a super hero pony named Annie!

Track 10. "Oklahoma Kids, a Kaleidoscope" is my dad's favorite track. I challenged myself to write a song with that title, since it is the theme for Oklahoma's reading program. My friend Mr. Billy calls the style "Monty Dylan."

I hope you've enjoyed our little tour! Thanks for checking it out!

Reading Rewards Monty Harper has been a professional songwriter and performer for more than a decade. He performs for libraries, schools and festivals around the midwest, and works as a "songwriter for hire", churning out ditties for children about reading, nutrition, and other important topics. His Paws, Claws, Scales and Tales CD was inspired by the CSLP theme, and includes 10 songs about animals, pets and reading, plus two bonus songs and lots of extras to access on the computer. Limiting the focus to animals, pets and reading did not limit Harper's ability to write some fantastic songs. Frank Lloyd Wright once said, "Man built most nobly when limitations were at their greatest." He was right.

The title track is evidence of Harper's "songwriter for hire" chops. He packs an impressive number of animal-book references into this upbeat, jingly, 3-minute pop song. On other tracks, he drops more animal-book references, including Loveable Lyle (the Crocodile), Walter the Farting Dog, and Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher. Harper has mastered the art of pop-song writing, and he has a youthful, sweet tenor voice to deliver the songs beautifully.

CD is "Dance on the Bed Good" What do kids like almost as much as animals? Songs about them, of course, and Monty Harper's CD Paws, Claws, Scales & Tales delivers just that. The CD's music ties in to the Metropolitan Library's summer reading program of the same name. It's a collaborative program that is found in 36 states, including Oklahoma (visit CSLPReads.org for more information).

As a mom, I enjoyed the music's diversity. My children (ages 2 and 4) loved the sometimes-silly lyrics and the fun rhythms that were easy to dance to. Spencer (age 4) proclaimed it "dance on the bed good." All of the animals that kids find irresistible are represented - from dragons and frogs to cats and dogs. The songs are so catchy, you may find yourself humming them later - like we did.

Stillwater-based Harper is the singer, songwriter, and primary performer on the CD, and Harper can frequently be found at local libraries and venues performing his child-friendly music. Children of all ages and their parents can appreciate the smart lyrics that wind in references to books anod other songs - including the Beatles. A great accompaniment is the wealth of information available online (MontyHarper.com), including a list of book titles referenced in the songs, and background information on each. From the site, you can also sign up for a monthly email newsletter and free song downloads.

Monty Harper’s Best Yet Family music is full of regional favorites who make the rounds of schools. One such performer is Monty Harper, from Stillwater, Oklahoma. This singer/songwriter emphasizes reading in his music. Paws Claws Scales & Tales is his latest family-friendly CD, and despite its Magical Mystery Tour cover, this is Harper’s Sgt. Pepper; it’s his best work.

The title track celebrates some of fiction’s favorite animals with the point that “it’s all about a bond of love.” “A Pet Like That” speculates, “Wouldn’t it be cool to own a pet like…” Mr. Popper’s penguins or Dr. Seuss’ cat.

The standout for grownups is the Beatles’ parody “Eleanor Gerbil” (“Oooh, look at all that chewed-up cardboard”). In the world of kids’ music, there are lots of guys with guitars, but Monty Harper is one worth finding at www.montyharper. com or www.ReadingSongs.com

Review: Paws Claws Scales and Tales - Monty Harper "If you're a children's librarian, I highly recommend Paws Claws Scales and Tales, even if you're not participating in the CSLP. If you're not a children's librarian, I still think you and your kids will like the album, which is fun musically and sophisticated lyrically. Recommended."

Press Release

Paws Claws Scales & Tales CD Provides Songtrack for Summer Readers

5/15/06. Stillwater, OK. Award-winning children's songwriter Monty Harper has released a new CD just in time for summer readers. The Paws Claws Scales & Tales CD was inspired by the Collaborative Summer Library Program (www.cslpreads.org) theme which will be used for youth reading programs this summer in thirty six states, including Oklahoma.

The CD has gone out to dozens of libraries across the nation, and the early response has been very positive. One children's librarian already using the CD to promote her summer program is Sandy Shropshire of Moore, OK. "It's full of unforgettable songs about pets and animals and kids!" she says. "I find myself humming and singing the new material from Paws, Claws, Scales & Tales throughout my workday."

"It's all about a bond of love..." sings Harper in the title song and reprise that bookend the ten original pet songs on the CD. While some songs, such as "Dog Books" and "A Pet Like That" feature well-known pets from children's literature, others introduce new characters such as "Eleanor Gerbil," "Fred's Frog, Flippy," and Lucinda, the leucistic alligator.

Harper performed most of the instrument and vocal parts on the CD himself, but he also enlisted help from friends and family. Harper's daughter, Evalyn (four years old at the time), co-wrote and sings on "Hummingbird Hum" and his wife, Lisa, lends her voice to "Villa Villekulla Hula." Two songs were recorded at Woodside Avenue Music Productions in Evanston, IL, and feature guest musicians Steve Rashid, Jim Cox, and Don Stiernberg: "I Took My Dragon For a Walk" and "The Cat Came Back." The latter is a rewritten classic with a new twist ending, featuring Don Stiernberg's world-renowned jazz mandolin.

The CD is rounded out with two danceable bonus songs: "Gimme Vegetables" and "I Go Bananas," and it contains many extra features accessible by computer, such as podcast episodes detailing Harper's creative process. More information is at www.ReadingSongs.com.

Based in Stillwater, OK, Monty Harper performs year-round at schools and libraries throughout the region. This summer will be his sixteenth to participate in the Oklahoma summer reading programs. He will perform songs from the Paws Claws Scales & Tales CD for 26 library audiences this June and July.

Harper's songs and recordings have received many accolades including a Parents' Choice Approved Award, a NAPPA Honors Award, Children's Music Web Awards, an iParenting Media Award, a Kids Radio Mania Family Favorite Award, and two Unisong International Songwriting Competition awards. More information on Harper and his music is at www.montyharper.com.

About Monty Harper

"Vibrant images of a child's world are a hallmark of Mr. Harper's work," says Dave Kinnoin of SongWizard Records, "and his prolific playfulness delights the child in all of us." Based in Stillwater, Oklahoma, where he lives with his wife and four-year-old daughter, Harper has been writing, recording, and performing songs for kids since 1989.

Harper's fourth and latest recording, The Great Green Squishy Mean Concert CD, was captured live in front of audiences in Stillwater, Bartlesville, and Oklahoma City. Harper performed with the "Thrice Upon a Time Band," a rock ensemble he put together solely for the purpose of creating the CD. Band members are John Howk on electric guitar, Cody Byassee on drums, and Bob Moore on bass.

"Well-established 'adult' acts such as They Might Be Giants and Dan Zanes are now 'discovering' that kids like to rock, too," says Harper. "But I've known it all along! With the new CD I'm trying to approach that same boundary between kids' music and pop, but from the other side, as a solo children's artist mixing in a real, live, energetic, rock 'n' roll sound."

Harper began creating music for kids as a way to combine various interests such as writing, music, performance, and working with children. After completing his master's degree in mathematics at Oklahoma State University (just in case) he immediately began to explore the possibility of children's music as a career. A few Barry Louis Polisar records he discovered at the library inspired Harper to forge ahead. "Those records showed me that success can be had making fun music about gross stuff that kids love," says Harper. "That sounded right up my alley."

In the ensuing years, Harper has engaged many thousands of children with his interactive programs at libraries and schools throughout Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas. He also teaches songwriting through his workshops and residencies and is one of the most often booked performers on the Oklahoma Arts Council Touring Roster. He has penned many songs for clients such as The Oklahoma Department of Libraries and the LAUSD Nutrition Network. He has collected three Children's Music Web Awards, a Parents' Choice, two Unisong International Song Contest awards, and once landed a song at number one on the MP3.com children's chart. Harper's recordings are available internationally at CDBaby.com, Amazon.com, and iTunes.

Songs from Harper's new CD will feature prominently during his fifteenth summer reading program tour this June and July. He is scheduled to present more than forty programs throughout Oklahoma. An itinerary is available at www.montyharper.com.
