Whether online or in person, Monty will lead your students through the process of creating their own original song(s). Each workshop experience is designed to fit your group's size, age, and schedule. Students learn lyric-writing and composition concepts and practice collaboration and performance skills.

One-Off Workshops

Any age, small group, one to two hours, online or in person, we'll write a song together.

Day of Workshops Plus Performance 

Grades 2-5. Up to three small groups contribute to one original song, plus a culminating concert, during which students perform their newly-created work.

Ask About Patreon Funding

If you can allow us to post photos, video, and audio from your workshop to Patreon, you may be able to receive funding for up to half Monty's fee.

Incorporating Instruments / Technology

Do your students play recorders? Ukuleles? Do they have access to smartphones or tablets with GarageBand or keyboard apps? Let us know! Monty can incorporate student instruments into the process.

Songwriting Residencies

Grades 3-5. Multiple sessions scheduled over a period of days, weeks, or months during which Monty leads several classroom groups, each to create an original song based around a theme, culminating in student performances of their work. Oklahoma Arts Council grants make these residencies super affordable!

Songwriting Club 

Grades 4-8. Self-selected students write songs individually or with partners in weekly after-school or weekend club meetings, culminating with student performances of their work. Oklahoma Arts Council funding is available for after-school programs.

More Songs From Past Residencies and Workshops
